Fused Silica Quartz Plate vs. Ordinary Glass Plate for Industrial Observation Windows-Amy
Yayınlanmıştır: October 22, 2026
Lianyungang Shengfan Quartz shares a practical comparison case to help equipment designers and purchasers select the right transparent plate for furnace viewports, photocatalytic reactors and optical testing fixtures.
A laboratory customer previously adopted borosilicate glass plates as observation windows for its high-temperature photocatalytic reactor. Within two weeks of continuous operation at 450°C with UV irradiation, the glass plate showed obvious problems: UV light was mostly blocked, reaction efficiency dropped sharply; thermal stress caused surface cracking and fogging; alkali precipitation contaminated test samples. The frequent replacement led to extra downtime and higher running costs.
After switching to JGS2 fused silica quartz plates supplied by Shengfan Quartz, the working condition improved greatly. Made of high-purity silica, the quartz plate features excellent deep-UV transmittance, ultra-low thermal expansion coefficient and strong thermal shock resistance. It can run steadily at 1100°C, withstand repeated heating and cooling cycles, and keeps clear view without fogging or devitrification. Its superior chemical inertness also prevents impurity release, protecting the purity of photochemical and thermal experiments.
From the test data, ordinary glass plates are low-cost and fit for room-temperature visual observation only. They are not suitable for UV light transmission, high temperature or corrosive environments. Quartz plates carry a higher initial material cost, yet deliver far longer service life, stable optical performance and fewer shutdowns, bringing better comprehensive economic benefits for high-end processes.
Shengfan Quartz provides custom quartz plates with different sizes, flatness requirements, chamfering and AR coating. We support sample testing and bulk export orders for semiconductor, new energy, environmental photochemistry and material sintering customers. Our technical team can assist customers in material selection according to working temperature, wavelength and sealing requirements.
